Forget boring speeches and bad food. This will be a night to remember.

Help us recognize recognize innovating companies and individuals across nine Boston industries: Media, Design, Education, Tech, Marketing & Advertising,Healthcare/Medicine, Dining & Retail, Sports, Arts & Entertainment. If you know someone who belongs among the elite 50 on Fire winners, nominate them today. Nominations close September 30th so time is running out!

Not sure who to nominate? To give you some inspiration, we decided to throw it back to last winter and catch up with some of the reigning 50 on Fire winners. After checking in with the 50 on Fire Design winners, we turned to another booming Boston industry: Marketing & Advertising. 23 finalists battled for last year’s top prize, but only five were named among Boston’s 50 on Fire. We asked three of last year’s winners: Why are you still on fire?

HubSpot

“We just wrapped up our INBOUND 2013 conference, which brought more than 5,000 marketers, entrepreneurs, and business leaders from around the world to Boston for an incredible conference at the Hynes. At INBOUND we announced three products: Signals, and a Platform update including Social Inbox and a Content Optimization System. We now have almost 10,000 customers globally, including massive international growth and significant agency growth through our partner program. We now have 600 HubSpotters between Boston and Dublin. Also, in a light hearted note, Dancing with the Stars really missed out by not including Brian [Halligan] in their cast for this season. This is a link to him dancing on stage at our INBOUND conference: http://ceoshuffle.ytmnd.com/ (takes a bit to load, but it’s worth it, I swear).”

Andrew Graff, allen & gerritsen

“With a lifelong passion for “what’s next” in marketing and advertising, and as a challenger of the status quo, in June 2013 I announced allen & gerritsen’s acquisition of Philadelphia’s Neiman, making a&g one of the nation’s Top 20 independent full-service advertising agencies…We’ve always been an agency focused on ‘what’s next’ – in marketing, media, analytics, and innovation – and expansion strengthens our position for the future.

Really cool to be honored by the Ad Club of Boston “Future Legend,” at the Ad Club’s 100thanniversary gala…it’s an honor for which I am deeply humbled and proud to have received, and one of the great moments of my career.

Additionally, as an agency that champions disruption and invention, we are now executive producing and directing #afewgoodminutes, a dynamic new short-form branded content web series. #afewgoodminutes focuses on marketing legends and creative innovators from some of the world’s most influential brands – Like music mogul Russell Simmons, artist and entertainer Donnie Wahlberg…

As a CEO focused on culture and surrounding myself with the best talent, I am excited that, for the third consecutive year, allen & gerritsen was named a “Best Place to Work” by both the Boston Globe and Boston Business Journal. We embrace the passions of all our employees to get the most out of them.

Nanigans

“Nanigans is even more on fire now than in March! Nanigans has grown its revenues consistently at a 100% yearly growth rate over the last three years, growing revenues 10X since its initial funding in August 2011. Other milestones include…raising an additional $6M in funding from Avalon Ventures, opening a 2nd international office in Singapore…winning Best In Show at the MITX Innovation awards..[and the] creation of a Value Added Reseller program, empowering agencies and trading desks for the first time to benefit from Nanigans’ 3+ years of R&D into predictive lifetime value.

Currently entering another phase of high growth, with 40 open hiringrecs through year-end, Nanigans has remained committed to the Boston tech scene. This summer it successfully partnered with Startup Institute Boston to mentor and educate students…Nanigans has also spoken at conferences like BostInno’s State of Innovation and the American Marketing Association.

Outside of Boston, Nanigans was invited as the only marketing ecosystem developer to be on stage at Facebook’s Global Sales Summit, participated in a Silicon Valley Bus Tour with LinkedIn, eBay and Andreessen Horowitz, and will be joining Facebook on stage at the Direct Marketing Association’s Annual Conference.”
